I am a researcher, a developer, a husband, a father, and a thinker. I'm an American making his home in Europe.
I have also been the following over the years:
- A charter research scientist for the now-defunct Brussels-based Starlab research lab,
- An early leader in MPEG-7 standardisation and development,
- An electronic musician, contributing heavily to the Pd (Pure Data) open source project, and
- A programmatic typographer, contributing heavily to ConTeXt, an open source typesetting system.
In late May 2007, I launched lolcode.com, a joke esolang.
In late August 2008, I launched recom.me, a twitter music recommendation agent and a matching website.
